Mrs. Attaway's Road to Recovery
Published: Thu, Jan 12, 2012, 09:21AM CST

As most of you know by now, Mrs. Attaway was diagnosed with brain cancer shortly before Christmas. She had surgery to remove the tumor and now has a long process of rehabilitation and treatment ahead of her. She is making wonderful progress in therapy and will be coming home this weekend. A Caring Bridge site has been set up to let people keep up with her progress:
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/DelanaAttaway
In addition, a donation account for Mrs. Attaway has been set up at Wells Fargo. All anyone needs to do is walk into any branch across the country and say they want to deposit money into the “DeLana Attaway Donation Fund”. Funds donated will help defray the enormous and ongoing costs of her treatment. We also are selling blue bracelets in the front office for $5. The bracelets donations will go into her fund as well, and help keep her in our hearts.

Front Desk Notes
Published: Thu, Jan 12, 2012, 09:21AM CST

Can you believe we are almost half way through the year? I want to thank everyone for your support while transitioning into Attendance Clerk at CMS North. It is a privilege to be a part of the Cougar family and to work with your kids. Here are a few reminders of CISD requirements.
1. Please send in a note from either a parent or doctor when your child returns to school after being absent. The note must be turned into the front office, and have a handwritten signature. This ensures there is written documentation why your child was absent and that you were aware of the absence.
2. When your child must leave during the day, please send in a note with your student that morning. They will be given an early dismissal slip when they turn the note into the front office. If you forget the note, you also may call the office and we can send an early dismissal slip to your student in class. The slip enables your student to be in the front office ready to leave when you arrive.
3. If you are visiting our campus, you must come to the office and sign in on the Lobby Guard. Don’t forget your driver’s license!
Looking forward to a great second half of the year. Please let me know if you have any questions or ever need any assistance.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will launch STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness™, pronounced the same as star), the new assessment that will replace TAKS (the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) which has been in place since 2003. The new tests will be significantly more rigorous than previous tests and will measure a child’s performance as well as their academic growth. If you did not get a chance to attend one of the parent meetings, or would like more information please visit the below link to the CISD website that is full of information.
