Published: Wed, May 9, 2012, 10:26PM CDT
CMSNorth Honor Winds and Symphonic Bands both were awarded straight first division, Superior Ratings at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Competition. Each band played a concert of three pieces of music for three judges, afterwards each participated in the Sight Reading competition where the bands played a completely new piece of music that they had never seen before after a short explanation period. Both bands earned “straight 1’s” or Superior Ratings, from all judges. Comments from judges included: “This is the best middle school band I have ever heard”, “WOW, what a tremendous source of pride for your school, parents and community”, “Coppell is known for the highest level of music education in our state and it starts here with your middle school performers! What a band, great enjoyment to hear such young people perform years beyond their age.” This is the 12th year that all of the North Bands have received Superior Ratings in both Concert and Sight Reading, which results in a “Sweepstakes” award. Photo Christopher Stubblefield, CMSN Band President, Mr. Joel Ashbrook CMSN Head Director, and Amy Reed, CMSN Band Historian show off the band’s UIL trophies. |

The end of the school year is fast approaching, which means time to turn in textbooks. We need parent volunteers to help with this process. You will be responsible for making sure the students have all the textbooks given to them at the start of the school year, and checking the current condition of the textbooks compared to the condition form the student filled out last August. More detailed instructions will be given to you before your shift. If you can help out, just click on the block for the shift/s you can cover. If you can cover more than one shift that would be fabulous. For those of you who need to pick up a child from elementary school during your shift, please e-mail us and let us know ahead of time. North Needs a Computer
Published: Mon, Apr 23, 2012, 01:52PM CDT
The computer currently used at North to produce the electronic signs in front of the school is fried. If you have a computer at home that needs a home, think of us. It doesn’t have to be new or anything, it just needs to have Windows XP (not Windows 7) and the only other requirement is that it has a serial port for us to connect the sign equipment. We don’t need a monitor or keyboard or mouse or anything. If you have a computer to donate please contact Carol Freese at 214-496-7100. |
